New Worlds Comics - Be Different!

Manifesto

My name is Guy Hasson.

I created New Worlds Comics to empower you.

The process I’ve set up to create comics is all about empowering everyone, from the very beginning of the process (the writing and art) to the very end.

We empower writers. We only take on the best writers, and give them a place to tell their most personal and powerful stories from start to finish without catering to the lowest common denominator in the audience.

We empower artists and writers. For every dollar you spend on a New Worlds Comics book, the writers and artists get a hefty chunk. We believe writers and artists are Artists, and if they do something good that you love, they should be able to live off their Art.

We empower adults. We create stories that lift you up, not stories that look down on your tastes or intelligence. Our flagship title, Wynter, was called “the best SF comic book series on the market today” across the board by review blogs. That’s because it treats the readers as intelligent adults.

We empower teens. Our heroes and heroines are real people. No one is ‘super’ anything. With our titles, teens can learn they can become heroes, too, overcome hardship. Our heroes and heroines have real bodies, because we believe unrealistic bodies create unrealistic expectations in adulthood, which leads to trouble.

We empower kids. Our upcoming Lost in Dreams graphic novel series is about a six year old girl, Joy Shelley, who lives alone in the Dream, raised by a father who only comes when he sleeps in our world. The story follows her from birth to adulthood, as she matures and becomes a strong, self-possessed heroine. With every graphic novel, Joy grows three more years. As the children reading her grow, so does she, and they can go together and become heroes together.

We empower women and girls. At least half our titles have women heroines. Our heroines are real people with real bodies. All female characters in all titles are realistic, three-dimensional female characters.

We empower indies. New Worlds Comics recently initiated the Indie Power project. The Indie Power project bands together dozens of indie comic book companies in a way that empowers all of us together.

We empower fans. Our Comics Empower project is all about the fans. In almost daily posts, fans tell their stories about how comic books empowered them, inspired them, helped them, and taught them.  Quite often, the personal stories are amazing, touching, and personal. Check them out, they’re updated almost daily.

    Hello Mr Hasson

I am in the final stages of my comic book 1, and would like to submit it to New Worlds Comic. The website above is the website for the project. The comic book is part of the project. MC will also be a web series and game, songs from the web series will be released. The songs will be performed by Priz Em, her videos in 3D. Yes very ambitious.

When will you be open for submissions and how long does it take before you make your decisions. The MC synopsis story is on the website.

    Sincerely
    Kathy

  • Glenn Møane says:

Do you have a presence in comic book stores with any of your titles, or can the eventual trades only be ordered through that one shop?

    January 22, 2015 at 2:37 pm
    • GuyHasson says:

Hi Glenn. Here’s the technical aspect of it: At present we are a very very small company, set up originally to create only digital comics. The physical trades are a great boon, but distribution is a big thing.

For now, it’s that one shop. If you convince the shop near you to get some for you and your friends, that would be great.

Here’s the future aspect of it: The more we grow, the more you’ll see us in stores. The more people talk about us, the more stores will demand to have Wynter and Goof (and soon Time Warriors and Lost in Dreams).
