Remember why you liked comics in the first place?
Our Comics Empower Project continues!
This time, Savannah tells her story:
Comic books. As a child I ventured into the colorful pages rarely.
Living on a mountain in Western Massachusetts didn’t lend itself to finding comic books readily available.
I devoured classic novels and as any only child in the middle of nowhere, had a bit of a fantasy world in my head.
In my late 30’s I met my now-husband, a virtual comic book encyclopedia.
He introduced me to the pages of Preacher, Hellblazer, The Killing Joke…. Suicide Squad and so on….
To discover that my wild imagination wasn’t so odd was empowering, to realize I wasn’t that unusual was so exciting!
Comic books made me realize, imagination is a wildly wonderful thing.
I love that at 40, there are still amazing things to discover….
I have a lot of comics to catch up on!
I’ll be reading straight for the next 2 decades!
